Si e' concluso positivamente il primo sciopero internazionale della rete
Internet.
Non ci e' possibile quantificare con sufficiente approossimazione il numero
dei partecipanti on-line, sebbene, dato il
numero elevato di server del governo francese elencati nel nostro
comunicato, si presuppone siano stati diverse
migliaia.
Gli effetti dello sciopero sono stati i seguenti:
ore 17.45 accesso veloce ai server francesi.
ore 18.00 primi rallentamenti negli accessi.
ore 18.15 non e' possibile accedere ai due server dell'Educazione Nazionale
e a quello della Sanita.
ore 18.30 ai tre precedenti server si aggiunge per pochi minuti
l'impossibilita' di accedere ai server del Governo,
dell'Energia Nucleare e dell'Industria, mentre si nota un estremo
rallentamento nei restanti server ad esclusione di
quello delle Finanze.
ore 18.45 non si accede a uno dei due server dell'Educazione Nazionale e a
quello della Sanita. Molto rallentati il
secondo server dell'Educazione Nazionale e quello dell'Energia Nucleare.
Rallentamenti sensibili negli altri server.
ore 19.00 rimangono inaccessibili uno dei due server dell'Educazione
Nazionale e quello della Sanita', mentre la
situazione sembra essersi normalizzata sui restanti server.
Agli effetti "on-line" si aggiunge la partecipazione massiccia dimostrata da
utenti che da tutto il mondo ci hanno spedito
moltissimi messaggi di adesione.
Tra questi risalta l'adesione di Bruce Sterling, i compagni dell'ECN di
Parigi che hanno spontaneamente tradotto in
francese e distribuito il nostro comunicato, adesioni da una ventina di
stati differenti, oltre a quella di tantissimi singoli o
associazioni italiane.
Sulla stampa sono stati pubblicati articoli in cronaca nazionale sulle
principali testate (L'Unita', La Repubblica, La
Nazione. Inaspettata l'assenza del quotidiano Il Manifesto). Controradio e
Radio Popolare hanno costantemente seguito
l'evolversi dell'iniziativa con anche collegamenti in diretta durante lo
sciopero. La notizia e' stata inoltre diffusa da
numerosi altri network locali e nazionali.
Il nostro comunicato, diffuso per la prima volta giovedi' 14 dicembre ha
fatto il giro del mondo in pochissimi giorni,
dimostrando:
- la volonta' diffusa di sostenere iniziative di protesta contro il governo
francese.
- la volonta' da parte dei navigatori delle reti di utilizzare e la
potenziale efficacia di questo strumento di protesta: lo
sciopero in rete.
- l'esistenza non solo di reti telematiche, ma di un movimento globale di
individui che hanno a cuore la difesa dalle
ingiustizie perpretate nel mondo.
- l'estrema velocita' e capacita' spontanea di organizzazione di tale
movimento.
Aggiungiamo, infine, che abbiamo constatato che:
- diversi utenti meno esperti non hanno operato il collegamento nel modo
appropriato (molte persone non hanno
configurato a zero la cache memory, andando a far pesare i loro collegamenti
sul proprio hard disk, anziche' su quello
dei server francesi).
- esiste la possibilita' di potenziare il traffico sul server scelto con
programmi scritti appositamente.
Riteniamo dunque che dall'esito di questa prima "prova" si puo' dedurre che
uno sciopero organizzato in rete (con piu'
tempo per diffonderne la notizia o una struttura organizzativa preventiva,
istruzioni dettagliate sulle operazioni da
eseguire nel collegamento, l'uso e la distribuzione di programmi realizzati
per l'occasione) puo' essere un valido
strumento di protesta contro ingiustizie internazionalmente riconosciute in
quanto tali.
Siamo felici di constatare che in questo caso l'interattivita' di un media
quale e' la rete Internet ha permesso ai propri
utenti di far sentire la propria voce non per business, non per spettacolo,
ma per una protesta sociale globale.

NET'STRIKE ECHO
The first international Internet's strike has been developed in a good result !
It is not possible to know how many Internet's users were on-line but as
there were many www french government
servers listed in our strike's msg we think several thousands of Internet
users have partecipated to the strike !
Strike effects were the above reported:
- 5.45 p.m. Quick access to fr servers;
- 6.00 p.m. first difficulties to access to fr servers;
- 6.15 p.m. it is not possible to access to the Health and to the
Educational Ministers' www servers;
- 6.30 p.m. Also the servers of the Nuclear Agency, of the French Government
and of the Indusrial Ministry decline the
access;
- 6.45 p.m. The access to the servers of the National Education and of the
Health Ministers is denied while the link with
other fr servers meets several difficulties;
- 7.00 p.m. Only the link with the servers of the Educational and Health
servers is denied while the functioning of the
other servers is on standard level.
Apart from the "on-line" partecipation we have recorded the arrive of
several msg of approval to the demonstration
from all over the world. The comrades of the French ECN have translated our
msg and spread all over France while
several well known fellows such as Bruce Sterling has joint the strike.
The Italian press has shown attention to this kind of strike by publishing
several articles (La Nazione, Unita',
Repubblica while the left-wing newspaper Manifesto has not published any
note on this demonstration!).
The strike has been "transmitted" by several Italian "radio" such as
Controradio and Radio Popolare and other kinds of
local and national information networks has spread news about the strike.
Our protest msg developed on 14.12.95 has been spread all over the world
after few days showing:
- the interest of many people to counteract the French current policy on
nuclear and social items;
- the willing to be involved in a NET'STRIKE;
- the existence of a world-wide movement able to counteract world-wide
injustice;
- the capacity to develop a such kind of movement in a short time.
Finally we outline that:
- several users have not set browser preferences in such a way to really
link with the server each time (cache memory
at 0) and not with itsown PC;
- it could be possible (for the next time) to build up software oriented to
the specific goal to make an "electroni
demonstration" at the internal of a www server.
As a result of this first net'strike's test we are sure that a strike
organized at the internal of internet (with more days to
organize the strike, specific software, specific instructions) can be a
powerful media to counteract international injustice.
We are happy to see how the inter-activity offered by Internet has offered
the opportunity to many people to stand-up
on the electronic frontier not for business or for show goals but for social
global demonstration!
